Lita x Onyx Enamoured

Lita had decided today would be a wonderful day to explore a new region of the forest she had yet to really experience herself. The beautiful rosette crimson dove had noticed the veil of spanish moss that seemed to shroud that section from the rest in an aura of secrecy. Which meant that the entire area was definitely an intrigue to the adventurous Lita. Her golden eyes were wide with wonder as she ducked her head and walked through the veil created by the hanging spanish moss into a world that seemed magical just by the fact she had to enter through a physical barrier to reach the other side.

Beautiful flowers seemed curl around every tree as Lita walked through and looked around with pure awe. Vines and more spanish moss hung from the limbs of the trees, creating a veil over the canopy that gave a slightly magical feel to the area. As the hooded rosette dove made her way, a gruff voice broke her silent amazement that made her spin around with slight surprise.

“What are you doing here?”

Lita whirled to lay her golden eyes on a proud amber form also bedecked in rosettes. A handsome male prairie stood tall behind her, eyeing her with unreadable orange eyes and an aloof stance. He didn’t seem to be a danger to Lita - nor was he directly telling her to leave which the friendly dove took as an invitation to introduce herself in order to make a new friend.

“Hello!” she chirred as the amber prairie rook continued to stare silently at her. “I didn’t mean to barge in if this is your territory. My name is Lita - nice to meet you! I’m just exploring this area ‘cause I always wondered what was on the other side of the moss. Your territory is very beautiful; I love the moss and flowers…”

The strange amber rosette prairie male seemed to just stare blankly as Lita continued on until she finally fumbled to a silence when she realized the male had yet to formally introduce himself. He was still staring at her silently for a moment more, his expression unreadable until he finally decided to introduce himself. “Onyx,” he said simply though he didn’t offer a paw to shake the friendly dove’s paw.

Lita decided to take things into her own paws instead. Reaching forward and grabbing his paws in hers, she shook them vigorously. “It’s nice to meet you Onyx!” she said jovially. “I’d love to be friends with you! Do you think you could show me around a bit? I’d love to see more!” She was excited to learn more about Onyx the enigmatic prairie kukuri as well as the territory she had stumbled upon. Onyx himself looked slightly uncomfortable at her jovial introduction but at the same time he still didn’t refuse her presence in his private domain. It seemed as though he was just as intrigued by Lita as Lita was intrigued in Onyx though the enigmatic prairie kukuri didn’t show this emotion on his face as he finally gave a slow nod.

“Sure,” he said simply, beckoning with his tail as he started to make his way through the forest he called his home. Flowers and other beautiful plants and mosses seemed to decorate the trunk of every tree they passed. Lita took in every sight with wide, excited eyes. Sometimes she would hold a bloom gently in her paws as she paused to take in a particularly beautiful sight. Onyx would pause in his own walking to seem to admire the happy and friendly dove who had suddenly walked into his life. He was beginning to wonder just how the beautiful dove was so outgoing; even in the presence of an aloof creature like himself. Lita didn’t seem to even notice his silent and emotionless expressions. She was happy to make a new friend even if he didn’t share the same enthusiasm.

As they made their way through his territory, Lita’s eyes lighted one some scrumptious looking snowa. Her eyes grew even larger with excitement as she pointed to the delicious fruits. “Look! Snowa!” she said as her stomach audibly growled. “Do you mind if we take a break to eat Onyx? I’m starving!”

The amber rosette prairie rook turned to look over his shoulder at Lita before walking back to where she’d stopped. Without much more of an invitation Lita began gathering several to eat, her amber eyes sparkling. Onyx sighed but didn’t object considering he was a carnivore himself. The fruit didn’t interest him as much as fresh meat did so he let Lita gather all she wanted until she settled herself down on a fallen tree, the log covered in a soft layer of comfortable moss and small flowering plants. Onyx settled down next to her as she looked up at him with a happy smile. “Would you like some?” she offered with a friendly smile.

Onyx looked over at her outstretched paws and shook his head. Lita shrugged and started stuffing her face. She gave a happy chirp once she finished and stretched her whole body. Onyx couldn’t help but admire the beautiful dove’s form as she stretched out. She turned and smiled again at the expressionless amber rosette prairie rook, her smile seemed to brighten the whole area.

“Thanks for showing me around Onyx!” she said gratefully before leaning over to rub her cheek against his feathered one. “I had a lot of fun! I’d love to visit you again sometime!”

Onyx felt slightly embarrassed under his feathers and fur but hid the emotion well as he gave a nod back to Lita. He didn’t express his feeling aloud but Lita seemed to understand the motion and smiled at him again. “Why don’t we enjoy the beautiful sights together for a little while longer though?” she asked as she leaned back to stare at the canopy above them. “I’d hate to waste such a wonderful day just by leaving this beautiful place so quickly.”

And while Onyx didn’t say anything in response, Lita took his relaxing form and his orange eyes following her stare to the canopy as a yes.
